First post!
I've got a Xsara VTS which is the same car pretty much and I can tell you that it has a cylinder filter like on the 5 only it sits next to the gearbox at the bottom of the engine bay about 6 inches from the ground and the cover is at the bottom with no rubber gasket. I can see how this happened so easily.
He must have been doing a few RPMs to bend those rods so much though.

And that was my first post on the new board.
my bruv did somthing like this in his 21 20l , although wasnt so bad
he drove through a puddle that was a wee to deep sucked up some water . he still drove it around with bent con rods for a few weeks
we whiped the head off and chucked in a new con rod from one of my spare j engines . and all was fine
brings one another meaning to suck squeazze bag , oh ****
just had another good look at the pickys
HE MISSED ONE >> N° 1 IS STILL STRAIGHT
lol. nothing wrong with the gti6 engines.. just the pesky tensioners that sometimes let go early on. Other than that awesome engines.
