Looks a good base for a project Robbie . You got a ramp in your own garage?
Awesome! Keeps the pics flowing!
This is going to be awesome! I hope it becomes 'the best' van out there!!
Not much of update but I pulled engine and gearbox out
More progress cut out all the inner and out sill and some of the floor as it was rotten and mate new inner and out sills no need to buy just make it, cut off rear arch too and replaced with another arch I cut from another doner van, also cut false floor out of the rear of van too this so I can fit rear seats like they have in the European express model vans that's it for now turboted
Nice & solid now, top job .
more pictures for robbie
Awesome. Looking good this.
Good stuff. The underside looks really clean
Not much progress as painter got a lot work on but here's pictures in primer
Still more progress than most rob.
Update nothing has happened since last year but next month I hope to have a painted van🚐
Nice job. Doesn't look far off paint now?
It's been painted and started putting dash and windscreen back in
Probably going to be the best van in the world!
Black, super cool
Any updates Rob?
Well if I could upload photos from my phone here I would do
More, it’s efi now makes 220hp/260torque at 24psi at 3900rpm so
the stroke crankshaft makes it boost straight away with gt28turbo,
But I’m not happy with it well the engine ain’t happy it’s breathing really heavy the oil catch tank fills up with pure engine oil after 30min drive so looks like the rings are gone and problem is
I can’t get the parts to fix it as it’s got oversized 80mm pistons and liners which means the block has been machined out bigger
with bigger liners so I can’t go back to 76mm pistons so the only way to sort it is build a new block from scratch and re use the crankshaft, at moment I ain’t got time for it I’ll just keep emptying the catch tank for now😬
Just been having a look at 80mm piston ring sets mate
There are a few out there, some for a Nissan Sunny that may fit. Just need to know each ring thickness to see if they fit

If you got 76mm pistons and liners i think you will need to fit an original crank too, the throw of the long crank will push a standard piston out the top of the liner at the top of the stroke
I wonder if they are Daewoo Pistons that were used in that 1600cc kit on ebay a while ago, might be worth looking into them
As you say you won't know till you remove the pistons anyway, be a shame to not use the bigger pistons. Think the displacement of your engine was closer to 1700cc from what Nick told me when i bought the car years ago
Would love to see how far the CC of a C1J can be taken. Would breath new life into it keeping it all looking stock.
Be a much better drive off boost too.
Update engines out rebuild lump coming soon waiting on
Parts from doggy Portuguese geezer😀
Great project and work. Looking forward to seeing what you’ve done with the piston ring issue or if you have gone for a new block.
