    Leaky Gear Box Fix Kit

I just found a Febi part number for the leaky gear selector kit similar to the one I purchased through a supplier in France. http://www.tnd-france.com/etanche_e.htm looks like one of them is copying the other...the TND kit cost me £53 euro the Febi kit is much cheaper on ebay.

    Febi 47222

    here is one supplier, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-BILST...YAL4t#shpCntId

May be useful to some one.

Good stuff. My gearbox has been weeping for years (only a bit) so I should probably invest in one of these. I assume it's a gearbox off job to fit mind Matt, yes possibly speak to Dale?

The nice thing about this kit is the box stays in place, it can all be done very easily from under the car. just disconnect the selector rod and pop the rubber o rings and other bit on as per the instructions.

    http://www.febi-parts.com/article.ph...rchInput=47222

look at the technical info on the item and it has instructions.

£16.47 I can get it into the shop for, plus the paypal fees which put it to about £17.26 plus postage.

sounds like a good deal! are you getting them direct from Febi or a UK supplier?

Yeah, £17.25 delivered from Latvia via eBay so members might be happier to buy them from RTOC shop, even though that would be plus post.

Are we allowed to resell them? Are we allowed to use their fitting instructions?

That eBay seller is paying less than £16.47 if that includes delivery, and his 10% eBay fees and PayPal fees and leaving a profit.

Lets not forget the reason why people join and pay to be a member of RTOC. If we have to absorb some postage costs, then so be it.

Re: Leaky Gear Box Fix Kit

I would have thought this would be very popular to stop that little weep.

If they'd been available I'd have fitted one in the late 1990's then changed the O rings every few years, as needed.

Would this also fit the other gearboxes? Clios, etc?

Dale are you saying MPD have some and no-one anywhere else? Did they say the restocking time and price?

I would agree to get a few in the shop now and let people know. Then more if they sell and adjust the price down or up accordingly.

If supply is difficult, it wouldn't be that difficult to make your own kits up. It's only a couple of parts to have laser cut out and a couple of splits seals.

Re: Leaky Gear Box Fix Kit

That would be good but then you'd have to deal with the law suit as it's patented. Says so on that website in one of the links.

Unless they agreed to allow you to make it under license?

Re: Leaky Gear Box Fix Kit

Really a patent for that? I would be amazed if they actually did have one, hardly seems worth it for such a primative part.

We had this on a mini forum, a guy claimed to have a patent on a blanking plug for a dizzy hole in the block.

He doesn't quote a patent number.

Yeah I saw that, they don't look like the biggest of companies from the looks of the website. There must be a way to find out patent numbers without contacting the manufacturer?

We have 1 in stock. Febi had them in October time for when it was ordered, but they are currently out of stock and they didn't say when coming back in.
