How difficult/easy is it to convert a 5GTL into a turbo?

Is it technically straightforward to take a 5GTL and convert to a Turbo? The reason for asking is I have had two Turbos in the past but now can't justify the cost of another and have a 5GTL! The top speed is similar but I miss the acceleration, particularly up Birdlip Hill!
Besides the wider wheels, body mods and the turbo, is there any significant difference between the two? If not, I would like to create a "Q-car"(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q-ship) so ask forf advice. Many thanks, Harrie Harrison

Is the GTL a 1.7?

To attach a turbo to an naturally aspirated engine requires some changes to the engine, fuelling, cooling. I expect to the GTL you can fit an existing turbo'd engine and all the relevant parts, fuel pump, pressure regulator, intercooler, bigger rad, oil cooler, oil pressure and boost gauges, engine management to control the extra fuel and different timing advance when off and on boost, etc, free flowing exhaust, boost control, suitable camshaft, stronger engine mounts. You may need stronger drive shafts and a strong clutch. You might need longer gear ratios. Better brakes and suspension.

In a recent PFC mag, to a Clio, someone fitted a turbo'd cossie engine and 4 wheel drive running gear, with NOS, making 600BHP, it said.

So, yes, to can turbo your GTL.

You mean fit the engine (and other necessary bits) from a GTT and put it (them) into your GTL? This has been done a lot in the past and some in the club are doing it now. Have a look in the projects section.
