btw there doing a mk1 golf gti but are showing other hot hatchs
Think it's Ross's
Yes I saw that brief glimpse too, will watch to see next week...
No way!!!! A car resto program actually doing a R5? Interesting to see what it will make at the auction?
Got it set for recording tonight
30th of October last year. I was there for two days with it then left it with them for the last day of filming. Got the glovebox lid signed by Phil and Ant too
In total they put 400 miles on it but I bet it'll only be on screen for 3 or 4 minutes.
When it came back the clutch was slipping so the production company paid out for it to be transported south to have a green box valeo fitted and shipped it back north.
Well he had a face like smacked arse whilst driving the 5, what a stupid idea driving the M25, really going to show the charms of the GTT.
also saw a phase 1 when they were in the track, no wonder they dobe the clutch and that many miles
Phase 1 looked awesome. Shame didn't really do any real details on the 5. Also, this series seem to be more story base than really seeing much work going on if not any. To be honest, last week's on the police car show was pretty much boring. I found my self logging on doing work whilst it was the TV.
Oh right, so I'm not the only one left feeling a tad deflated from last Sunday's
show I would have loved to see the VW restored to a proper standard car,
because I feel it would have made much more at auction. It would have given
us a better indicator of the market. They did mention in passing that a tidy
R5GTT can make £10K. Well, that's its minimum resto costs, if you're serious.
The problem is that no-one wants to spend the kind of money that's paid out
for very dodgy, and metal that's definitely not original, Fords of the same era.
Last Sunday's result was a bit skewed, bearing in mind who the eventual buyer
was. I too am hoping it gets a bit more interesting from here on.
Regards,
Steve
Whilst it was awesome seeing a 5GTT on a telly, I am rapidly going off this show. The first series wasnt bad, it did seem to cover a bit of the resto & history etc, but im not overly impressed so far with the current series. Philip just seems such a miserable person and doesnt seem to know much about cars. Ant on the other hand does seem to know his beans.
I suspect that show was a set up from the off.
They seemed to not show much of the restoration process, painted it a horrible colour that was of the guys choosing. let him rag the nuts off it, then put it into auction with dirt up the side of it. - why would you do that unless you wanted to limit the market down to your already chosen buyer?
so who brought it ross??
