    Guide to fitting after market remote central locking

    There are loads of these cheap "Keyless Entry Systems" on eBay and I had one working well for many years in another car. The Laserline alarm finally had to come out so I wanted to fit a remote central locking to the 5.
    As a non-electrically minded person, it was all a bit daunting. The +ve and -ve black and red were obvious, as were the wires going to the hazards, but the ones going to the Central Locking (CL) rocker switch weren't. I had a look around the forum and elsewhere and couldn't find simple instructions for fitting one.

    So, here is the bottom line:

    Assuming the wiring for the box you buy is the same as the one in the Pic;

    Connect the White/Black stripe to No1 input of the CL rocker.
    Connect the White wire to No5 input on the CL rocker.
    Connect both Yellow AND Yellow/black stripe together into the thick Red +ve wire BEFORE the fuse. You can open up the fuse holder and connect bare ends into the back of the spades. These form part of the positive switched section.
    Connect Red into Red on the CL
    Connect Black into Black on the CL.
    Hey presto, working central locking from a remote plipper.
    Connect the browns to the hazards if required but I never got that far.
    Any probs, post them here.
