How can I remove shot blast from the inside of my rocker?

A few month back I took my scabby rotten anti rollbar, spair wheel holder, rocker cover and sump to a local shot blasters. When I got them back all the rust was gone but the grade of sand/medium he had used was seriously harsh and he had not taped off the inside of the sump+rocker.

The guy done me a good deal and seemed a decent guy just was used to doing less delicate things so I never went back and thought I would just clean it up myself.I have read that medium/sand can get behind the baffles and ruin engines? My dad suggested leaving them soaked in parafin then blasting with an airline to get all the medium sand out.

I know how fragile engines componenets and oil pumps etc are so need a way of getting them back to immaculate if their is one?

    Thanks, Luke

Really and truly, the rocker box should have been baked to turn the old gunked oil sludge to an ash before blasting, then the blast medium wouldn't stick to the sludge.

I had a rocker cover blasted and powder coated on a Honda Accord once and it had bits left on the underside (I fitted it in a hurry and didn't initially check) It totally screwed the engine. Stick it in a dishwasher.

It might be easier, cheaper and quicker to source a replacement rocker/sump covers Luke?

    Trev is correct

For the sake of a rocker cover just get another one. I have suffered the engine destroying shite in the oil, after 4k miles all the bearings and oil pump were shafted, different circumstances but i just wouldn't take the risk.

Nah, if it's just C1J there aren't any baffles/areas where silt can be hidden. Just give it a run through the dishwasher once or twice and it'll be fine.

Well I guess it tells you in the future not to do it the way you did....which is going to help you in not doing it again.
