First post!
Hey Guys,
First post, so hi to all...
Kinda got the old 5 flame back! and have been looking through the classified for another. Although this will be a bit of a "Challenge" as a I live in Australia now.
Would really like to know what happened to my mates old motor. Absolutely loved this Famous 5 car. I believe, sadly, it was broken up (by some noob) for parts in 2010, and some of the old posts on this thread may have confirmed that.

Welcome to the club.
Are you aware of how difficult it is to get a GTT legal on Aus roads?

Does anybody remember the
Silver Phase 1 that was modified by BBR to their Phase 3 conversion? was in Fast car i think and was meant to have over 200bhp and we are talking many years ago.
The conversion was very expensive if i remember correctly.
It was owned by a older bloke with a beard in the magazine article. Was always one of my favorite 5's
Would love to know what happened to that car
Are you in the market for a 5 then Bealo?

I sold the my twin engined R5 few years ago and have just bought it back as a rolling shell and will be trying to put it back together with a pair of F4R engines

400bhp i assume you were running two c1js last time round, your lucky to get your old car back well done mate With the new engines i can only imagine the power your going to get, 2x scoffs 749bhp in a 5....scary i remember seeing the white one at the last ND now that was a piece of engineering work...looking forward to this project.

Not necessarily famous but I remember a few threads about it at the time, a 5 associated with mike48, couldnt see any pics of it here. I remember the guy spent thousands on the build, sprayed it, and later turned out the shell was rotten. Pritty sure it was flip paint green.
Looking for the pictures of the manifold if anyone still has them? (used search function yes)
Not sure what would qualify a 5 as famous but I would say my favorite 5 GTT's from over the years, and opinion as to what should be remembered in years from now as stand outs, etched in the Renault 5 Bayeux Tapestry are:
-Scoffs beast of course,
-Stuart Clarke's
-Trusty white one for the history ect,
-Any cup car, more genuine the better, standard. in particular..
-The prima one yellow/black, not sure if was a rep or not, saw it at rockingham, blown away yes,
-Rowans old one, just cuz Edmund in a 5 is amusing image in my head, good history,
-Santani's from italy
-Andy Fandango's mostly white one, sick,
-Mudslinger white one, (lots of trick bits but never saw it run 1/4mile?)
-The first rwd 5, think it was tungy. (nocturnal maybe?)
Probably a couple more, but thats all I can think of right now.
That would be in the old site, not this one. So search couldn't find it.Originally Posted by Boris

Ah, that would explain it yes thx, just remember the manifold being quite nice, would'nt mind doing something similar, think it cost a grand possibly more. There was deffo a couple engine bay pics floating around that time, nevermind. There were lots of pictures lost from the old site for sure.

Yeah real nice James, like that. Interesting choice of engine.
Sure there was a twin engine project in london somewhere that looked like it had potential. Might have been from old site, liked the engineering involved or maybe the idea of building one.
Still more to come from the c1j from what i can see tho, be interesting to see what new parts get used or developed in the next few years, more efi 5's for sure, twin charged maybe, different fuels/turbos who knows.. just hope the scene keeps progressing pushing boundary ish.
I found a few more old pics tucked away in the loft from circa 97-98 beaulieu & USC apologies for the quality....photo's of old photo's
Roly's 5 , the grey 5 next to it with the hocks was David Kirks..H5PWR.
Some nice T2's....
I can't for the life of me remember the guys name, he was the event co-ordinator.. Someone will my memory please...its annoying me..lol.
USC Stuart Beals Cossy 5
USC Boomzilla !
The event co-ordinator of that E-reg pearl white with multi-coloured checkers on rear of car was Mark Kendall from Grimsby, wonder what happened to him after he quitted that role and disappeared?
