You could do, however would this cause airbag light to come on?

New MOT rules, any light which stays on the dash which should not is a failure don't know if this is in play now but will be.

you can get a resistor to attach to the wiring which will make the car think there is an airbag fitted and the lights will stay off - theres hundreds of 172's 182's running bucket seats around

This. TBH I would be more worried about what damage was done to the undercarriage when it hit the kerb.

    Re: clio 182 seats

Once the airbag has gone off the light stays permanently on, IIRC it's either another airbag ECU and plugged into CLIP diagnostics or just CLIP to clear faults.

Do you want to fit buckets? Why not buy a 2nd hand seat, fit it, then get it on CLIP. The resistor method would usually work but i imagine in this case as it's gone off it's triggered the airbag ECU too. Matt from Codered can confirm this.

Yep, as ric says and tony agrees, if an airbag has deployed it's another/new computer as the light will be on all the time even if you did try and erase the code/reconfigure it.
Just whack another seat in it or stitch the old one up?
No mot on Isle of Man? Must have some interesting cars over ther mate??

Interesting this. So as the computer has "fired" does that mean it will not then "fire" any of the remaining bags and would fitting a new seat solve this/the light?

    Re: clio 182 seats

That is something I've never tried to find out really. I can only imagine that if you have shunted the car hard enough for a bag to be deployed, then the affected parts should be replaced. So in this case, new seat and computer and the computer programmed to the car.
But in reality, you can fit a second hand seat and computer, reconfigure the computer to the car, the vin numbers will differ from computer to car but the lights would go out on the dash.
This is a phase 2 car, it's MUCH easier to put the lights out on a phase 1 172 without replacement parts
