It's a classic policy mate and only 1k per year as it sits in the garage most of the time. Plus I'm dead old!
Decided to go with Sureterm in the end as well for my Raider, £5k value and 3k miles, £95 after FJ wanted nearly double that and wouldn't get close to that price.
HIC 3rd party F&T all mods declared
Adrian Flux - fully comp, mods declared £128
For those insured with SureTerm, did you protect your NCB?
Cheapest I've found so far is Yes! with £274 with protected NCB.
However, without protected NCB, SureTerm came in cheapest at £140.
Just gonna phone FJ & G.Sykes...
FJ: £300.18 but I wouldn't be insured to drive any other car.
Sykes: A very polite, helpful, young lady, but a monkey?! (that's the premium price, not her btw! )
It's like trying to insure the Evo all over again...
True, except I do drive Bekki's car now & then.
It's looking like Yes at the mo.
Ironically, and somewhat typical, although not surprising seeing as it's me, I've just had a couple of renewal emails through regarding the Evo, and the cheapest one is a good £200 less than last year's premium, and that's without phoning around trying to haggle a cheaper deal
Megane 225 6k a year, on the drive over night, work carpark all day....... The AA £170 with pncb. Quite happy with that!
No protected no claims on my policy. I have another policy for my daily driver, and you can't use your NCB on 2 cars! I think my policy is classic and I couldn't build up a NCB at any rate?
Such a con
Well, after much phoning around, and trying all the 'compare' websites, the best I got was £274 - Fully comp, £4k value, 5k miles per year, protected ncb, drive any car, euro cover, legal protection, Bekki as a named driver, blah blah blah.
How the feck some people are getting sub £150 quotes beats me? I'm guessing it's a case of either third party cover only, no protected ncb, they're quoting a silly usage mileage per year (eg, <500 miles), their car is only valued at £50, or there's some serious BS going on.
Like said Sureterm is not protected NCB but haven't got any on that car anyway. £5k insured for, 3k miles per year, dont need insurance to drive any other car as got that on another vehicle, and euro cover. Thats full comp and £95, will be finding out what the renewal is in a few months time. But think area I live in helps that a lot and kept on driveway.
Yep, by not protecting the ncb does net a massive saving - SureTerm came back with £133 for me, which is over half what Yes wanted, albeit their policy includes protected ncb.
Was v tempted to go with ST, but the ncb issue is a sucker punch IF you end up having to make a claim.
my sureterm policy was low milage classic and garaged. so it didnt use my no claims as they are on the bm
So, my insurance is due up in a couple of weeks and Sureterm will no longer insure me due to a change of their policies or something. The brokers best quote is through Lancaster - £175. I've been on the usual comparison sites and thats just about the best I can get

Whats the results on this poll please as I am looking to insure mine again but dont fancy phoning all them in the list, cheers
Got some prices for my car. BIG mod list, includes rollcage etc. All quotes 3000 mile limited with £250 excess and agreed valuation.
Footman James : No quote, power increase too much captain.
Sureterm : £507 (*not classic policy as the don't offer them anymore )
Peter James : £290
Graham Sykes : £225 (* no agreed valuation on modified cars).
HIC : £270, but then matched Graham Sykes @ £225 after haggling
I went with HIC
Had another quote for Peter Best for my 19 i'm picking up soon, 130 Quid fully comp including legal cover i'm 25, no points etc

£264 for the year.
Both sureterm and footman James wouldn't quote because of the modifications. HIC were a joke £730, Adrian flux wanted £556, and basically non of the others could beat Peter James.
Amazing how things change so quickly in the insurance game. I'm actually quite disappointed as I was looking for under £200 as my car will probably do 10 miles before I break it again
Just insured with autonet through money supermarket, still spent 40 minutes on the bloody phone though.
6000 miles

Flux and HIC (sister companies as far as I know), and Sky, seem to have this market sewn up (with Footman and Graham Skyes covering off the classic car angle). I've been with one of the first three for years and years.
While this post is back up. I've just insured my t5 with Brentacre very good as they do not charge extra for any mods other than engine mods.
Not sure about Classics but when I'm up for renewal I'll be calling them for a quote on my 5.

Footman James 2k miles per year £103 👍
Hello Folks,
Got quoted fully comp just shy of £200 for standard car, agreed value £10.5K,
5,000 miles which includes stuff like roadside assist and continental use.
Insurance by Towergate Cherished Car (Aviva) arranged through Prestige Keep Moving
I'll be testing them again when my Laguna Coupé comes up as they specialise in
Disabled Drivers too
Regards,
Steve
Good price Steve especially the agreed value.
Yeah, I thought so. I was dreading what the cost of agreed value might have been,
but when you factor in the breakdown cover (not within 1 mile from home) I think
it's quite good. It's much less than when I had it on the road back in the day. I got
a shock when my R11T policy cost shot up £100+ to nigh on £500 for the R5
Regards,
Steve
I am with Autonet, underwritten by Highway..
Classic car insurance with agreed valuation, I paid £ 126.00 for the year....
