Hi guys,
For a long time there was not many ECU's that could work *reliably* with the Renaults 44 tooth (44-2-2) Renix trigger pattern found on the flywheel.
The new range of ECU's (420d, 440 and Select models) rely much more on hardware for crank signal processing compared with the old 420c which was largely a software process. The result is that they no longer have a problem detecting the missing teeth on the flywheel - prevously made hard by the double tooth that occurs just before the missing tooth.
I've done a couple of F7P engines recently and managed to use the stock flywheel and TDC sensor with no trouble. The same applies to the C1J since it's the same flywheel pattern.
Long story short: those with C1J's thinking about EFI with Adaptronic no longer need to worry about buying or installing a 36-1 trigger on the crank pulley.
Equally good news for anyone with an F7P or F7R - no need to modify the flywheel or switch to an F4R wheel.
