    Holiday places in England

Decided rather than go abroad, not got the money going to have a short travelling holiday around the country with my mate, more of a road trip.

Ill be leaving friday afternoon on the 18th this month, and staying round my mates in Birmingham for a couple of nights, then going up to Leeds for the sunday, but after that will be having to stay in B&Bs or hotels, was looking at Newcastle for a couple of days and possibly Manchester or Liverpool but not decided yet. Any recommendations for places to go and enjoy a drink in the evening up that area?

    Cheers

    Define holiday.

P1ss up? Bit of sea & sand? Near a theme park? Picturesque views? Good driving roads?

p1ss up or casinos is always going to be on cards but thats in evenings, theme parks aint going to be open this time of year though. just pretty much drive to a place park up and then leave car till next day, so thats why have to be near hotels to actually do something, even just going round the shops or whatever else is round dont mind, its just to get out of essex and do something

Newcastles great, im not just saying it, loads of people come to newcastle and have a good night out, there are 100 of bars in the city centre, different areas with different types of people, something for everyone.

There are casinos, lap dancing clubs, whitley bay is just a drive away. You could stay at the sea side aka whitley bay there are loads of b&bs, eat down there and even have a night out down there. Tynemouth is just up the road, same sort of place, then a 10 minute taxi to the town.

We are also a friendly bunch.

Cheers phil, but what would it be like on a monday and poss tuesday night? thats why thinking city centres would be the better option, travelodge for monday night is £39.50, and tuesday is £51.75, but book both nights its £51.75 per night how they work that out then. The newcastle central travelodge seems a good enough place to stay and for the price for 2 people cant complain really, pay that sort of price each for B&B really.

    I get you, just thought.

I think Monday or Tuesday is student night in the town, it used to be a Monday years ago, so should be busy.

Saturday is always a better bet.

You can get a train straight up here to.

I have been to Edinburgh, that is a really nice place to visit, but its a long way from Essex.

Student night sounds good night out in Birmingham saturday night, so was just planning around that really, my mate is driving his car so no chance of writing my one off this time round was looking at Edinburgh from there, its another 2.5 hours from driving from newcastle thinking there is a lot more places closer and maybe on the way back down south to where its warmer

Went there end of last year, was a good night out from what I remember, apart from trying to get back the otherside of the water at 4am though weren't good, but thinking staying the right side if we do go there on way back.

Liverpool's a feckin' awesome night out. I went for the first time back in October. tbh I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. It had a 'holiday' feel to it - Everyone was up for a laugh, and the locals are as good as gold (Especially compared to the muppets you get on a night out in London ).

Jarvis - Maybe Brighton's a bit more 'up your street'

But yes totally agree, never known such a friendly lot of people up in Liverpool, think I must have chatted to everybody in the pubs there, prices weren't bad as well from what I remember, hoping it would be the same on a weekend day, but if not still should be a great night out

Nah, I just thought.....You know, you and a 'friend', away for a few days

Liverpool's as cheap as chips. I remember nearly falling over when I got a round of 7 Jager Bomb's and a pint, and it came in at less than £16

We were staggering down a packed high street after an afternoon in the pub, and some young Scouse bird came running up to us, to give my mate back a score that he'd dropped. She'd ran about 1/8 mile, and was 6 months pregnant. We all just stood there in complete shock . That would NEVER happen down here!

It was in Yates' I think - Awesome bargain. You'd probably get 2 or 3 Jager Bombs for that price round here

There was some dodgy little place selling Vodka/Redbull for 50p as well. We thought it would have been rude not to go in there

You won't go wrong with Liverpool

Newquay is great as well - plenty of places to eat/drink and you can have a bit of a laugh on the beach's

I went on a stag weekend to Newcastle a couple of years ago and that was brilliant also - Buffalo Joe's

    Re: Holiday places in England

We had a good day at the grand national and stayed overnight in chester, great day out for anybody who likes a flutter to.

I think newcastle and Liverpudlian girls all come from the same mould, fake everything

I remember some lad from down south somewhere, got talking to us, he had lost his mates, he was telling us he was a millwall football hooligan, oh he had all the gear, stone island and the Danny dyer strut, poor lad.

I hope all the lads from the south are not cloned like that .

I think liverpool sounds a good bet, probably the same sort of distance as newcsatle from essex?

Thinking along the original plan then of couple of nights in Birmingham, then Leeds for a curry, travel to newcastle for monday and tuesday and then liverpool until can be bothered to go back home. Found a travelodge in Newcastle right in the centre, just hope there is an easy and cheap one in liverpool now then.

Is it the travelodge on the quayside?

If so you are on the doorstep for the action, the quayside is normally the place people go drinking as you get a bit older and migrate on from the legendary big market, them you hit about 30 and move onto the diamond strip, thats the bars along by the central station, very pretentious. Then when your really getting on the haymarket it is

Dale, your probably better staying on the Wirral and commuting over to Liverpool (via the tunnel) or even get the ferry across...All part of the tourist side of Merseyside...Id be happy to help you out if need be..

Albert Dock is across the road from town so it's all pretty much together...

Stayed in Wirral when I went up there last year, what times are the last trains back? as dont want the expense of a taxi back over the water, that was nearly an arm and a leg.

Went to quite a few places in the end think ended up in digital which was packed even though at first they didn't let us in as we ain't students. Before that was 90s bar which spent way too long in there. Will take a look at those places tonight if can make it that far. Seems a good enough bunch up here once you can understand them
