    Clean downpipe?

Best way to clean all the black soot out of the turbo downpipe? Is it just a case of a big rag pulled through a few times....or can some sort of substance be used?

Dunno if this will help like but.. On the cylinder heads on the marine diesel engines i work on the best way to clean the carbon build up in the exhaust ports is to used hot soapy water (preferibly a chemical based product), soak blue paper rag in it and just stuff them in there and leave for 24hrs. Pull the rags out then the carbon just drops off. That maybe over the top for what your after??
