pugeot 106 problem. (i know its not renault)

Right my friends pig 106 has developed a strange prob. It's a 1.4 Quicksilver w reg. Basically it will idle fine a drive fine then all of a sudden there is no power, the engine dosnt die but won't rev at all like its gone it to some protection/limp mode, then as quick as it came its gone. It won't do it at idle Ho its hard to keep an eye on anything and every thing is electronic. The throttle body has been changed but to no avail. Do these cars have a map or a mag sensor could it be that causing the prob or pods the evil at fault? Or could it be a silly little thing making the efi go into limp mode? In stuck with this the car has been to three garages and no joy any help would be greatly appreciated as now she is getting scared to drive the car. Cheers peeps

Every time I open this thread, or the Live window refreshes (because this topic is on it), I'm getting the following box pop up:

"A user name and password are being requested by https://newapvprdoc.peugeot.com. The site says: "unspecified""

Am I the only one? It's doing my head in

it sounds like it may be a bad connection by the way that the problem comes and goes, if its seems to be going into a limp mode then its probably one of the main sensors, my first check would be the o2 sensor and wiring as they are prone to failure due to heat, closely followed by the MAF sensor

we had a similar problem, for over a year, was only when mot came up we saw emissions all over the shot.

Changed, map, tps, lamda, all the obvious stuff.. decided in the end it had to be the ecu , but sold the car with the issue..

also , not sure if this was bluff.. one french specialist garage said it had an aftermarket coilpack on that are known to burn the ecus' :S.. and that was the issue. either way we did away with it and got an mx5 which has been great.
