Just in the process of collecting parts for suspension refresh, going to go with new standard struts and lowering springs. Now whats recommended for the phase 2 set up? Heard on phase 1 that springs can lower the car more than stated, is it the same for the phase 2? Whats the difference between phase 1 and 2 springs? Any advise would be brillilant.

Hi Ryan, if you search "lowering springs" there are loads of threads on the subject.

Only issue now is availability. :crap:

I had some bespoke springs made at my spec of open length and spring rate. That was nearer 2002, but there are probably places now you could get stuff made for you.

Maybe 10mm lower and 250lb / inch vs. the OE of maybe 100lb / inch. After that some people went up to 300 lb / inch.

The Twingo RS has around 500lb / inch. 220kg heavier car at 1050kg.

Some people race the 5GTT with 600lb / inch. Probably too hard for road use.

If you are rich enough you might be able to pay Bilstein to make up a one off B14 kit. The B14 have digressive valves and is what I might fit to my recently acquired Twingo GT.

Most common drop is to lower by 30mm-40mm on lowering springs, that's if you can source some new springs few options about, Apex and Spax available from £59.00 delivered upwards ;)

Ph1 lowering springs are very rare now, fitting ph2 springs to a ph1 causes quite a drop in height.

Leda Suspension will make springs to almost any spec. Not sure on price, but not stupid from what I remember?
