Has anyone painted there block using normal 2k car paint? I've tried searching on Google and over the pond it's been done with success, I'm guessing the heat might be a bit of an issue but how hot does the c1j get. I'm just thinking of how hot a car's body can get in the summer where you can barely touch it and it causes no problems or am I just talking rubbish :ashamed:

it's either that or I'll shell out for some pot 15 but even then I've heard some terrible reviews about this too

I don't know because I've never tried it but surely it would crack due to the heat?

I used hammerite with good results on all the engines I built before

You can use high temp enamel primer first then paint done that on my ford years ago and it lasted well

Umm food for thought, cheers. I'm still undecided on what colour too go for, I'm thinking off bright orange to match me hoses or go with my body colour (Porsche Riviera blue ). This is the reason I'm asking as I'll have plenty of spare paint after I've painted the bay.

Etch primer, 2k primer, 2k on top. Imo do wet on wet then bake it on.

As said, Hammerite, used few times never come off, even on brake calipers and couple track days and still no sign damages etc from heat.

I used to paint my calipers and rocker cover with 2k solid colour, good scotch with panel wipe, etch primer and colour ,last over 6 years, also did big brembo calipers, basecoat, brembo sticker and 2k clear coat, 7 years ago, still mint. just make sure its well cleaned and keyed up
