Hi everyone, its looking like the bottom end on my engine has gone and am i right in thinking my engine needs to come out to fix whatever has broke.

Anyway im trying to look at this from a different angle, would it be the right time to look at an engine conversion?

As far as im aware the main ones are the 1.7 turbo from a volvo or a F4R from a 172 or whatever else they come in. (not too sure what a F7P/R is) i've never driven a 1.7turbo so i have no idea what they're like but i loved my 172 the engine would rev for ever...

Which conversion do you lot think will be the most straight forward im not too fussed about whether or not its turbo charged (might get kicked out of RTOC :crap:)

Any and all info will be greatly appreciated :)

Joe

when you say bottom ends gone what exactly is it doing ? death rattle etc?.. are you pushing the limits of the c1j already or is it just that you like the idea of changing lumps, personally id stick with c1j but thats just me.

Im happy with the amount of power i have, not too sure what it is but with a T28, 285 cam and a few other trinkets running at 17psi its still pretty quick.

I think i like the idea of being able to rev my engine to 8k without it exploding. Now the turbo doesn't come on to full boost till 3.5k revs and it feels like it will pull well past the 6k im changing gear. PLus i think i prefer a N/A engine to a turbo.

Has anyone ever put a v-tec in a 5?

B18ft is easy but it wont rev due to the limiter may be better going f7p or f4rt but depends how deep your pockets are.

i think i'd enjoy the F4R the most plus they're easy enough to tune and if i get bored i've still got a T28 to bung on it :cooter:

Theres a lad in Durham has a full F7P engine (1.8 16v) and a 2.0 8v engine with the BB turbo manifold and a Pulsar T28 blower to go on... He was talking about selling it all last time I spoke to him ( few weeks back) he'd probably let it go for a very decent price if you were interested. I think he's had enough and its just in the way.

That would be me:smokin:
Like Ashy says I have two complete engines and a turbo manifold and turbo that I doubt I will ever use. Renault 1.8 16v and I think its a 2.0 16v isn't it George?

If anyone is interested PM me
