I've been talking about these for long enough, so it was about time I got to work!!

I have made a jig to allow the production of some stiff rear engine mounts. I don't really need to tell you the benefits of stiffening the engine up, because if you don't know how that helps then you probably don't need one! In short though: improved control in hard launching and between gears. Reduced gear lever movement also. The downside will be an increase in vibration and noise, so probably not for cars that spend most of their time on the road.

The mount is very similar to the ones I've done in the past for select folks only instead of the uber expensive uprated VW mounts they instead use a common but hugely uprated rubber mount from a landrover V8. Pro's are that they're cheap to buy and replace in the future. Cons are that they are not as shiney ;)

Some pics attached. They bolt right into the normal location without the need to modify a thing.

If you want one then let me know, I'll just make them as people want them. Some of the steel is a bit on the steep side and they take a good hour to make each one so they need to be £40 + £4.00 recorded p&p.

Any questions, fire away

Thanks for the feedback guys, glad they fit up OK.

I think the worst that may have occured during fitting was that the mounting holes may have needed a file, etc. I drilled the mounting holes @ 12mm to allow for some variation (bolts are M10). The original mounts have an elongated hole on the right hand side, possibly indicating that some subframes are slightly different than others. Who knows, but no problems as of yet :)

thats it for now, I'm sick to the back teeth of making them and they're eating up most of my spare time. I need to get on with my engine and I can't have swarf floating about the garage while I'm building that up.

I have enough steel for one more, which I don't mind making this week, so if anyone else wants one, be quick :)

Thanks for all the orders guys, there were more of you than I anticipated! I'll do some more at some point, Cheers.

Logg, sounds good mate, keep us abreast of your progress.

In the mean time, Scoff would be willing to make up a new batch of an absolute minimum of ten, otherwise it's just not cost effective. I would also add (a search or reading this thread will confirm) that these are proven rear mounts, with many members running them for some time now. I personally would be happy to pay up front for one of these but, ultimately, that will be Scoffs call.

I'll start the list for a potential manufacturing run of at least 10 rear mounts. I'll also assume that the mounts will cost between GBP40-50 based on the original price and maybe a bit of extra cost in purchasing the raw materials, plus postage.

Thanks guys, no one needs to worry about paying up front, if a couple of folk drop out then it's not the end of the world, I can sell them via the webshop or whatever. If we can get somewhere near to 10 requests I'll order materials and get to work :)

I should say that the only thing that looks to have gotten anymore expensive is the postage so we can say £45 delivered for a rear mount with the later 77mm V8 rubber.

Cheers, Chris

Roll up, roll up, get 'em while they're hot.

If your GTT is running more power than standard, there's a good chance that your standard rear mount is probably going to give up sometime in the future. The standard rubber is quite soft and even a good condition new OE mount will allow some mild movement.

Fitting the Scoff rear mount will stiffen things up which will not only increase longevity but, should improve gear shift feel too.

Go on, you know you want to......;)

I've collected all the materials including 17 mounts so I have enough to go for a while. Enough steel for 10 or 12 initially. I'm really happy with the new mounts, I shopped around and found some good quality ones, this time zinc plated (instead of flakey paint) and marginally stiffer than the last lot.

There will be a slight change to the design too to help speed up production. The main "n" shape in the center will be formed from 4mm steel instead of cutting, folding and welding like before.

I've got a load of work to do this week but I hope to get cracking next week. :)

Don't worry about that until I've made the batch but anything goes - paypal, debit/credit card, cheque or BACS :)

The sample of the fronts have been finished. will spend the next few weeks testing them once there's more info I'll start it's own thread.

Hi James, I had some good work come in over the last couple of weeks that I couldn't pass up so mounts had to go on hold sorry. It's going to be the first week or so in Jan, it's the next job in line (I promise )

I finished the first one today and started to make the jig, so I'll have some done on Monday / Tuesday all being well. I took some pictures, I'll get them up tomorrow :)

I have enough parts for 12 more (first is already sold and out the door ) but I plan to do some more in the not too distant future.

I'll post details soon for those who want to order one of the initial 12 :)

I have one of the first batch and it's still great. A worthwhile mod that offers a cheap fix should you tear a rubber.

To save me a job tomorrow I've uploaded some pictures just now.

The rubber mount is the same V8 range rover mount as before only a better quality and maybe marginally stiffer. They're a direct swap for the standard rear engine mount and greatly uprated in comparison. I can do them in either blue (above) or red. I can start posting them from Wednesday so if anyone would like to order one before they're all gone (I can only spare a few days to make these unfortunately so the next batch may be some weeks away) then please let me know sooner rather than later. If you're just happy to order one then you can paypal direct to sales@efi-parts.co.uk and then drop me a line with your prefered delivery address and colour preference either by PM or email to chris@efi-parts.co.uk . Total is £45 inc UK post. Over-seas - best to PM me and I'll price up the delivery via international signed-for. :)

Cheers, Chris

Ok folks, currently 10 paid up and those who havn't yet received theirs will hopefully have them tomorrow since the remainder are going out today. UK addresses anyway.

I have materials for some more, so if anyone who hasn't yet paid still wants one they should let me know, or send a paypal to sales@efi-parts.co.uk and drop me a line to let me know :)

Received today. Well, actually yesterday was the delivery but I wasn't at home. Looking sweet and will probably go on the car tonight or tomorrow after a colour change. Many thanks for your efforts and cooperation.;)
