R5.. earliest memory (spotty teenager content)
Flicking thru' some old photos t'other day and came across these from way back when. Just goes to show how far the R5 and myself go..
On 'oliday in Tenereeffee in 1985 with the TL hire car

1987/88 now when my ol' fella had a Phase 1. Note the MXVs (if we knew then what we knew now) and the Moss security sticker (funkin' ****e alarms but all the rage BITD)

'88 again feat. a piece of crap MG Metro. My uncle was driving this thing for a few weeks (dunno why), look how the Phase 1 lurking in the background makes the Metro look totally prehistoric. The final straw in British car manufacturing and the MG was s'posed to be a sporty number (obviously the 6R4 was completely different motor).

Now onto 1991 when I was 14 when the ol' man's Phase 2 was about a year old. Definitely appriciated it back then but probably not as much as I should have done. Mum there looking well p***ed off!!

And on to the now.. 20 yrs older and fatter but this time sat in the drivers seat..

Top posting Craig, great pics mate! My earliest memory of a 5 isnt all that long ago really. I bought this one from my brother in law back in about 99/00. The madness set in from that day on.....

Remember when I was about 18 a guy I used to work with had a phase 1 in silver on a D plate, he gave me lift to city after work one friday night, going down the dual carriageway someone else wanted to play on their way home and off we went belting along and left them miles behind, must be then I thought I want a gt turbo oneday!!! :)

I remember the day my dad was trading his red phase 2 in to the garage and he forgot the log book. Never seen me dad thrash a car, but the little 5 got it that day and i couldn't stop smiling. Shame he had to sell it, was immaculate.
